Puerto Quetzal advances in its digital transformation with AMURA and AURORA

Publicado el December 22, 2023

Puerto Quetzal advances in its digital transformation with the implementation of a project SMARTPORT based on data integration and coordination of port operations through the AMURA and AURORA.

The project aims to improve the management of port operations by exchanging information in real time between the different agents involved in port activity.

Real-time information integration

The model SMARTPORT It connects the different agents that operate in the sheet of water, such as practical boats, tugboats, moorings and the Control Center, with the information managed by the port company itself on the land side.

This includes data related to the Container Traceability, Yard Operations and Ramps, allowing a joint view of the port’s activity.

AURORA as a digital platform

The core of the project is AURORA, a technology-based digital platform FIWARE which allows the incorporation of real-time data from technical-nautical operations and the land side.

This data can be processed using data protection tools. Business Intelligence (BI) and be displayed through indicators and dashboards related to the main Port KPIs.

AMURA for the management of port operations

AURORA complements the suite AMURA, which includes different solutions for the digitization of technical-nautical operations and the management of the Control Center:

The project also incorporates PortCDM PAULA, AIS receivers, integration with other digital port solutions and dashboards with strategic indicators.

The tools follow the model Port Collaborative Decision Making (PortCDM) and standards IALA S-211 for the exchange of information between the different port agents.

Integration towards a Port Community System

The project also contemplates the integration of the digital solutions used for the Document Management and Port Logistics, with the aim of moving towards a Port Community System (PCS) for Puerto Quetzal.

With this implementation, Puerto Quetzal incorporates a management model based on data, interoperability and information exchange between the different actors of the port community, with the aim of improving the Efficiency, security and coordination of operations.
