Pilotage manoeuvre data now flows directly from Trelleborg’s SafePilot units into port operations, supporting operational safety and full manoeuvre traceability in a single operational view. The first deployment is live at the Port of Huelva, Spain.
Híades, owner of maritime tech products Amura Smart Solutions, announces the successful integration of Trelleborg’s SafePilot Portable Piloting Unit (PPU) with the Aurora SmartPort platform. The data a pilot’s SafePilot unit generates during a vessel manoeuvre now appears live in real-time flow in Amura´s Ecosystem to increase safety, traceability and common operational picture for all stakeholders. The first port where the integration is live is Huelva, Spain, and it will be deployed at other ports where Amura solutions are implemented.
Why this integration matters
Until now, the information generated during a pilotage manoeuvre stayed on board, available only to the crew. With this integration, the port and the pilot work from the same live picture during the most critical minutes of a vessel’s call.
For port operations teams, that means real-time awareness of manoeuvres in progress, displayed alongside all the other information the port already manages — one screen, one operational picture. For pilots and nautical services, it means an objective, second-by-second record of every manoeuvre: a factual account of how each operation was conducted, valuable for post-operation review and the continuous improvement of the service.

Developed by Trelleborg’s Marine & Infrastructure business, home to the company’s navigation and piloting operations, SafePilot provides pilots around the world with real-time navigational data and decision support. The deployment combines SafePilot PPUs and navigation software with SafeCloud, Trelleborg’s data-exchange capability, which securely carries pilotage data from the pilot’s device to connected systems such as Aurora SmartPort.
