At Hiades we have participated in the X Latin American Forum of Interns held in Montevideo . At the forum we present our new project ‘Fatigue Risk Management System’. We had the opportunity to exchange information regarding the organization, operational procedures, training and training of Trainees.
About pilotage and pilotage
Pilotage is one of the oldest professions and is an essential service for the safety of navigation, care for the environment and human lives, regardless of the economic cost of large ships.
Safety in maritime traffic is its primary objective and the practitioners provide their advisory service to vessels navigating restricted waters with the aim of protecting natural resources, the environment and the property of citizens.
The creation of the Forum
The creation of the Latin American Forum of Practitioners took place during the XVII Congress of IMPA, held in 2004, in Istanbul with the presence of representatives of associations of Practitioners from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico and Uruguay.
On that occasion, the initial objectives of the Forum were decided and one of these objectives is ‘To exchange information relating to each national organization, indicating the organization, statutes, tariffs, operational procedures, training and training of Interns, etc.’
